Complete Hearing Healthcare Across Ohio Since 2006

New Patient Visit

What Your First Appointment Actually Involves

A new patient hearing appointment in Akron, OH starts with a full audiometric assessment, then a longer conversation about where hearing is failing you at home, at work, and in the rooms you spend time in. Advanced EARGEAR has run that same process since 2006, and our team carries over 100 years of combined experience. You leave knowing what your audiogram says and what your options are.

We Fill the Paperwork Out Together

There is nothing to print from this page, and that is deliberate. A member of our team sits down with you in the office and works through it all with you, asking questions as we go. Here is what we cover together.

Do bring your photo ID, your insurance card, and any past hearing test results or hearing aid paperwork you can find. Old audiograms tell us whether your hearing has held steady or moved.

New Patient FAQs

What new patients ask before that first appointment: how long to set aside, whether a referral is needed, what to bring, how we handle insurance, and who to bring along.

Longer than the quick screening you might get at a health fair, and that is the point. A first visit covers the paperwork and case history we complete with you, a full audiometric assessment, and a sit-down review of what the results actually mean for the conversations you are missing. None of that goes well rushed, so we would rather you leave with answers than leave on schedule.

When you call to book, tell us which office is easiest to reach and we will tell you what to plan for that day. Akron is (330) 785-0800, Newark is (740) 920-4608, and Newcomerstown and Zanesville share (740) 920-4609.

Not to get on our schedule. Call the Advanced EARGEAR office nearest you, or request a callback using the form on this page, and we will set up your appointment directly. Coverage is the separate question: a few insurance plans only pay for the visit if your primary care physician refers you first, so it is worth one phone call to your carrier if you want certainty before you come in. We can help you sort that out when we verify your benefits.

If a physician or an ENT already sent you, bring the referral and any recent records with you. It saves us guessing at what has already been ruled out.

Five things: photo ID, your insurance card, a list of the medications you take, any old audiograms or hearing test results you can dig up, and your current hearing aids if you have them. Bring the chargers too. We service every major brand at all four Ohio clinics, so it does not matter whether the devices came from us, from a big-box store, or from a provider two states away.

Anything you bring that documents your hearing history helps. Records from a previous provider, notes from an ENT, or a workplace hearing screening all give us something to compare today's results against instead of starting from zero.

Yes, and we do it before you arrive rather than after you have been seen. Advanced EARGEAR is credentialed with every Medicare supplement plan, plus Anthem, Aetna, Humana, Medicare Gold, and UnitedHealthcare. Give us your plan details when you book and we will tell you what your benefits cover and what they do not. Anything left over can be spread out through CareCredit.

Veterans are welcome here too. Many of the veterans we see use us alongside their VA care when they want a shorter wait or a different device than the one they were issued, and we are glad to be that second set of hands.

Please do. The person who has been repeating themselves for the last two years knows things about your hearing that you cannot know, and they usually name the situations that bother them most: the restaurant, the phone, the grandkids in the back seat. That detail shapes what we recommend. They are also welcome to stay for the results, which means you are not the only one trying to remember what was said.

If you are the adult child arranging this for a parent, you can request the callback yourself and we will work out the timing with both of you. A good number of the appointments we book across Summit, Licking, Tuscarawas, and Muskingum counties start exactly that way.
