Hearing Aid Batteries
Every Common Battery Size, Kept in Stock
Plenty of patients have moved to rechargeable hearing aids, and disposable cells are still going strong for everyone who prefers a fresh battery to a charging dock. We keep hearing aid batteries in Akron, OH and at our Newark, Newcomerstown, and Zanesville offices in all four zinc-air sizes: 10 in yellow, 312 in brown, 13 in orange, and 675 in blue. Call ahead and we will have your size ready.
Companion Devices That Extend What You Hear
Batteries are only part of the accessory conversation. Companion devices pair wirelessly to your hearing aids and push sound straight to them, which helps in the situations hearing aids alone find hardest. A TV streamer sends dialogue directly to your ears at your own volume. A remote microphone clips to whoever you are trying to follow across a noisy table. Phone clips handle calls. We fit these alongside the aids themselves.
Hearing Aid Battery FAQs
Battery questions we answer at the front desk every week: which size your device takes, how long a cell should last, storage, and when rechargeable makes more sense.
Four sizes cover almost everything, and each has its own color tab. Size 10 is yellow and goes in IIC, CIC, and the smallest RIC devices. Size 312 is brown and fits many RIC and ITC models. Size 13 is orange, used in BTE and larger ITE aids. Size 675 is blue, for high-powered BTE devices and some cochlear implant accessories.
If you have no idea which you need, bring the aid or an empty packet to any of our offices and we will identify it on the spot, then note it in your chart so refills take a minute. You can also call Akron at (330) 785-0800 with the brand and model, or use the number for your nearest office on our locations page.
Roughly, by size: a 10 gives you three to seven days, a 312 five to ten, a 13 nine to fourteen, and a 675 two to three weeks. Those are guidelines, not guarantees, and heavy Bluetooth use pulls them down hard. Streaming phone calls, television, or music all day can cut runtime by a third or more.
One habit is worth building: after you peel the tab, wait a full minute before you insert the battery. Zinc-air cells need air to activate, and giving them that minute measurably extends their life. If your batteries start dying much faster than these ranges, that usually points at the device rather than the battery, so let us take a look.
For a lot of people, yes. If your fingers struggle with a tab the size of a lentil, if your eyesight makes the little door hard to line up, or if you simply resent buying cells every couple of weeks, a rechargeable set removes the problem. A full charge overnight covers a normal day, streaming included.
Disposables keep some genuine advantages. A dead cell is replaced in seconds anywhere, you never pack a charger, and capacity does not fade after three or four years of charge cycles. Most RIC and BTE models come both ways, so this is a question about your routine. We will work through it at your next visit.
A sealed pack holds its charge for about three years at room temperature, so buying a few packets ahead is sensible. Keep them somewhere cool and dry, like a drawer or cabinet, and leave the tabs on until the moment you need them.
Things to avoid: the refrigerator, because condensation forms when the cell warms back up; a pocket or purse with coins and keys, where loose batteries can short against metal; and a car in summer, where the interior gets hot enough to damage them. Keep them out of reach of children and pets, and call poison control immediately if one is swallowed. We stock fresh packs at every Ohio office.
We Don't Let Hearing Aids End Up in a Drawer
Plenty of hearing aids get sold. Fewer get worn. Advanced EARGEAR has spent 20 years closing that gap, starting every patient with a full audiometric assessment and a conversation about what they actually need to hear at home and at work. We verify the fit, adjust as your hearing changes, and service your devices at every one of our Ohio offices, whatever brand you wear and wherever you bought it.
