Twenty Years of Fittings Behind Every Recommendation

Advanced EARGEAR has fit hearing aids in Ohio since 2006, and our team carries over 100 years of combined experience with hearing loss. A certified Audioprosthologist directs the practice, a Doctor of Audiology leads our clinical work, and Real Ear Measurement is available to verify how your devices perform inside your own ear canal. Service and maintenance continue at all four clinics, for every brand we carry.

We Don't Let Hearing Aids End Up in a Drawer

Plenty of hearing aids get sold. Fewer get worn. Advanced EARGEAR has spent 20 years closing that gap, starting every patient with a full audiometric assessment and a conversation about what they actually need to hear at home and at work. We verify the fit, adjust as your hearing changes, and service your devices at every one of our Ohio offices, whatever brand you wear and wherever you bought it.

Hearing Aid FAQs

The questions Ohio patients ask most before buying hearing aids: brand selection, insurance and Medicare coverage, fitting styles, and the service that follows.

We work independently of any single manufacturer, so we are not locked into one company's catalog. ReSound is our primary line, and we are a ReSound Gift of Hearing participating practice, but we fit devices from every major hearing aid manufacturer across all technology levels.

What that means in practice: your recommendation comes from your audiogram and the way you actually live, not from whichever brand a supplier wants moved this quarter. If Auracast streaming matters to you, only about three manufacturers currently build it into their hearing aids, and we can tell you which of those suits your hearing loss. Call Akron at (330) 785-0800 to talk options through, or use the number for your closest clinic on our locations page.

Every new patient starts with a full audiometric assessment, which maps the degree and shape of your hearing loss in each ear. From there we talk through where listening actually breaks down for you, at home and at work, because the audiogram alone does not tell us whether you struggle most in meetings, in the car, at church, or on the phone.

That conversation happens face to face. Nobody hands you a clipboard and walks away, and the case history gets completed with you, by the person who will fit your devices. The recommendation that follows accounts for your hearing loss, your dexterity, how comfortable you are with technology, and what you can spend. Call Akron at (330) 785-0800 to book an assessment, or start from whichever of our four Ohio offices is easiest to reach.

We fit the full range: behind-the-ear (BTE), receiver-in-canal (RIC), in-the-ear (ITE), completely-in-canal (CIC), and invisible-in-canal (IIC). RIC devices are the most commonly chosen today because they stay discreet while leaving room for rechargeable batteries and wireless streaming. BTE styles deliver the most amplification and the longest battery life.

The smaller in-canal styles win on appearance, and they give up some room for directional microphones and larger batteries. Which one suits you depends on your degree of hearing loss, the shape of your ear canal, and how easily you handle small objects. Compare them on our hearing aid styles page, or call Akron at (330) 785-0800 — every office number is on our locations page.

Advanced EARGEAR is credentialed with every Medicare supplement plan, along with Anthem, Aetna, Humana, Medicare Gold, and UnitedHealthcare. Hearing aid benefits vary widely from one policy to the next, so we verify your specific coverage before anything is ordered and tell you what your plan pays and what it does not.

Where a plan covers only part of the cost, CareCredit is our financing partner and can spread the balance over monthly payments. More detail sits on our financing options page, or call Akron at (330) 785-0800 and we will check your benefits with you. Our other three offices are listed on the locations page.

Yes. We do not program cochlear implants, that work goes back to your surgical center or ENT, but we regularly fit the hearing aid on the opposite ear so the two devices work together. This is called a bimodal fitting, and getting it right takes care: the hearing aid has to complement what the implant is delivering rather than compete with it.

It is a service most practices in our area refer out, and our operations manager performs these fittings routinely. If you wear an implant on one side and have usable hearing on the other, bring your implant details and your most recent audiogram. Call Akron at (330) 785-0800 to set up a consultation, or reach the office nearest you.

Yes, and at any of our four clinics. Maintenance and repair cover all brands regardless of where the device was bought, which matters if you moved into the area or your previous provider closed. Cleaning, vacuuming, battery replacement, and casing or small component swaps are handled in the office.

When a problem runs deeper than in-office work can reach, we hold direct relationships with every major manufacturer and send the device in for you. Our hearing aid repairs page covers what we handle at the bench and what ships out. Call Akron at (330) 785-0800 and describe what your aids are doing, or find your nearest clinic on our locations page.
