Hearing Aid Financing
Paying for Hearing Aids in Akron, OH
Hearing aid financing in Akron, OH comes down to two questions: what your plan pays, and how you handle what it does not. Advanced EARGEAR is credentialed with every Medicare supplement plan, and we verify your benefits before your fitting rather than after. For the balance, we work with CareCredit, which spreads the cost over monthly payments. You get the number before you commit to anything.
Insurance, Medicare, and What They Actually Cover
Advanced EARGEAR is credentialed with every Medicare supplement plan, plus Anthem, Aetna, Humana, Medicare Gold, UnitedHealthcare, and most managed care plans. Hearing aid coverage still varies: some plans pay an allowance toward devices, some cover the evaluation only, and some want a referral from your physician first. Our office team reads your plan, tells you what is left to budget for, and bills your carrier directly when the plan allows. Call (330) 785-0800 with your card handy.

Financing FAQs
What Ohio patients ask about paying for hearing aids: what devices cost, what Medicare and insurance cover, how CareCredit works, and whether FSA or HSA dollars apply.
It depends on the technology level and the manufacturer, and there is a real range. Advanced EARGEAR is manufacturer independent, which means we fit devices from every major brand at several technology levels rather than selling whatever one supplier wants moved. ReSound is our primary line. The recommendation comes out of your audiogram, the listening situations you described, and what you can reasonably spend.
What you pay covers more than the devices. Programming, fine tuning, follow-up adjustments, and cleaning at any of our four Ohio clinics are part of the relationship, and real ear measurement is available to verify the fit. We go through the numbers openly during your consultation. Call Akron at (330) 785-0800, or the office nearest you, and we can talk through pricing before you drive over.
Original Medicare covers a diagnostic hearing evaluation when it is ordered to investigate a medical problem, but it does not pay for hearing aids themselves. That is where supplements and Advantage plans come in, and this is a genuine strength for us: Advanced EARGEAR is credentialed with every Medicare supplement plan, along with Anthem, Aetna, Humana, Medicare Gold, and UnitedHealthcare. We also accept most managed care plans.
Hearing aid benefits differ sharply between plans. Some pay a set allowance every few years, some restrict you to certain devices, and some require your physician to refer you first. We verify your specific benefits before your appointment and bill your carrier directly when the plan permits. Have your card in front of you and call the clinic nearest you so we can start the check while you are on the line.
CareCredit is a credit card built for health care purchases, including hearing aids. The application takes a few minutes online, and an approved credit line can be applied to your devices the same day. Most patients use a deferred interest promotional plan, commonly 6, 12, 18, or 24 months, which carries no interest provided the balance clears inside the promotional window. Longer fixed rate terms exist for larger purchases.
CareCredit is our primary financing partner and has been for years, so the process at checkout is routine. Bring the card to your fitting at any Advanced EARGEAR office and we run it like any other payment. You can apply ahead of your appointment at carecredit.com.
Plenty of our patients are in that position, and it does not end the conversation. Because we fit every major brand at several technology levels, there is usually a device that handles your hearing and your listening situations without reaching for the top of the catalog. We will tell you honestly where spending more buys you something real and where it does not.
From there, CareCredit turns one large number into monthly payments, and FSA or HSA dollars can cover part of it with pre-tax money. Patients often stack the two. Call the office nearest you and we will map out what the total looks like before you decide anything: Akron (330) 785-0800, Newark (740) 920-4608, Newcomerstown and Zanesville (740) 920-4609.
Generally yes. Hearing aids, batteries, accessories, and repairs are normally treated as qualified medical expenses, so a Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account can pay for them with pre-tax dollars. For a lot of our Ohio patients that is the cheapest money in the stack, and it pairs well with an insurance allowance covering part of the cost.
Rules, eligible items, and contribution limits are set by your plan, and FSA funds often expire at the end of the plan year, so check the deadlines with your administrator before you schedule. If you have FSA dollars to use before they lapse, tell us when you call and we will work with that timeline rather than against it.
