Hearing Care Careers Across Four Ohio Offices
Advanced EARGEAR has served Ohio since 2006, and we are hiring as we grow into grocery retail locations. We post hearing aid specialist jobs in Akron, OH and openings at our Newark, Newcomerstown, and Zanesville offices, from licensed clinical roles to front-office and commercial installation work. Our eight-person team carries over 100 years of combined experience, so you will learn from people who have done this a long time.

Working at Advanced EARGEAR
Thinking about a hearing care career with Advanced EARGEAR in Ohio? Here is what candidates ask most about open roles, licensing, our four offices, and how hiring works.
We hire licensed Hearing Instrument Specialists and audiologists, along with office administrators and patient-facing staff across our Akron, Newark, Newcomerstown, and Zanesville offices. Our assistive listening side also creates roles that most hearing practices do not have, including commercial installation work on hearing loop and Auracast projects in venues, schools, and workplaces.
Staffing is the main limit on how fast we open our new grocery retail locations, so applications matter to us even when nothing specific is posted. Send the form on this page and we will contact you when a role fits your background.
Clinical roles require current Ohio licensure. Hearing Instrument Specialist positions call for an active H.A.S. license, and audiology positions call for an Au.D. or M.S. in audiology with Ohio licensure. Most of our team holds an H.A.S. license, and the practice is directed by a certified Audioprosthologist, a credential beyond standard hearing instrument licensure.
Office administration and patient-facing roles do not require a license, though a healthcare background helps. If you are early in your career or finishing a program, apply anyway and tell us where you are in the process.
We are a small team of eight, so nobody here does one narrow task. Our staff floats between the four offices rather than sitting in one chair, which means you see a wide range of patients and cases in a given month. The practice is owner-operated and woman-owned, and Debra Valatka has run it since 2006.
The way we handle patients shapes the job. Nobody hands a clipboard across a counter here. Staff sit down and complete the case history with the patient, because that conversation is where trust starts. If you like unhurried appointments and long patient relationships, the pace here will suit you.
Fill out the application form on this page with your name, contact details, area of expertise, and a short note about your background. You can attach a resume as a PDF or Word file up to 4 MB, which gives our hiring team your licensure, certifications, and work history in one place.
Someone will follow up to set up a conversation. Applications stay on file, so applying now still counts later. If you would rather introduce yourself first, call our Akron office at (330) 785-0800 — or any of our Ohio offices — and ask about current openings.
Most hearing practices do one thing. We do two. Alongside clinical hearing care, we design and install assistive listening systems for venues, schools, and workplaces through our GET LOOPED side of the business, with an engineer and an installation manager in house. We also expect Auracast to replace the hearing loop, and we are building for that now.
For a clinician, that means exposure well beyond fittings and repairs, including bimodal fittings for cochlear implant patients that few practices nearby take on. For someone on the technical side, it means accessibility projects in real buildings. Our grocery retail expansion is also underway, which is where the next round of openings will come from.
We have four offices: 2828 S Arlington Rd Unit 1 in Akron, 843 N 21st St Ste 111 in Newark, 210 Cross St in Newcomerstown, and 601 Underwood St Rm 1 in Zanesville. Akron is our flagship and the base for our hearing loop and Auracast installation work.
Because the team floats, most roles involve more than one office, and we will be clear about which ones during hiring. We are also opening inside grocery retail locations, which will add sites in the markets we already serve. Questions about travel between offices are fair game. Ask them when we talk.
