Beyond the Sale
Started for Two People Who Gave Up on Hearing Aids
Debra Harshbarger Valatka watched her grandparents, Glen and Irene Harshbarger of Mogadore, spend a small fortune on hearing aids that ended up in a drawer while they sat lost in their own conversations. She opened Advanced EARGEAR in 2006 to do it differently. Two decades on, our hearing aid specialists in Akron, OH and three other Ohio offices bring over 100 years of combined experience, led by a certified Audioprosthologist.
Meet Your Ohio Hearing Care Team
Led by a certified Audioprosthologist, our clinicians bring over 100 years of combined experience to hearing evaluations, fittings, and repairs at all four Ohio offices.
Debra Valatka is the Director of Advanced EARGEAR, which she founded in 2006 and has grown across central and northeast Ohio. A certified Audioprosthologist, she approaches every patient by considering the whole spectrum of their needs, knowing hearing loss affects every aspect of a person's life — which is why each new patient begins with a full audiometric assessment and a broad conversation about their listening demands at home and at work.
Her path into hearing healthcare was personal. Both of her grandparents wore hearing aids and invested a small fortune in devices they were promised would transform their hearing; the results disappointed them and the aids ended up in a drawer. That impression stayed with Debra, and she became convinced there had to be something better. Under her direction the practice now handles everything from a patient's first hearing aids to designing and installing assistive listening systems for places of worship, performing arts facilities, theaters, funeral homes, and medical offices.
